Winter? What winter?
The first thing I remember about arriving to Israel in October 2009 was getting off the plane and being hit by a wall of heat and humidity and being so happy that for two whole weeks I can forget about all the layers of clothing I wore in Dublin pretty much all year round.
I come from continental Croatia, a climate that has hot summers but where winters can get very cold, so I always associated second half of October with rain and fog, boots and jackets, roast chestnuts and chestnut puree (yummy)… Which is why I was fascinated by the fact that while back home temperatures were around 10-15 degrees, I was baking under the sun in flip flops and summer dresses.
And this year the summer clothes in October were more than just a vacation teaser – it’s mid-November already and weather is still hot enough for sleeveless tops and sandals!
Just for comparison’s sake: In Dublin I wore flip flops once in two years and it was absolutely normal to wear 2-3 layers of clothing in the middle of summer (as demonstrated below).
So, my conclusion is: Give me the “What winter?” weather and let it stay :)

But we need real winter here!
Hmmm…You, perheps, arrive from the area where second half of October is associated with fog
, not from such country
. There are areas in The country where second half of October is still warm, sunny and I remember times when we would still go to swim in The sea the second half of October
))).
. That’s the climate I love…
Enjoy the heat, Zrinkić and greetings from Tokyo where I didn’t need a jacket until a week ago
Very very true, Vjera, I stand corrected and am ammending the post accordingly
Btw am checking your photo updates regularly – Japan looks amazing!
Ha – you can come to Berlin anytime if you crave for fog, cold and incessant rain (as witnessed last week)….
Enjoy the weather while it lasts – when DOES winter start in Israel, if at all?!
Hehe I DON”T miss the fog and cold
The winter was supposed to start end of October, but apparently it refuses to do so still and the forecast for next 10 days remains the same, so we’ll see if and when it actually happens this year… Stay tuned
