Yup, Tel Aviv can actually be QUIET :)

This was my first High Holidays experience in Israel and it was really amazing!

From death-by-food of Rosh Hashana dinner extravaganza at Amit’s aunt (after which I literally went straight to bed and didn’t move until next morning) to the quiet and empty streets of Tel Aviv on Yom Kippur.

That day was simply incredible – no cars, busses, taxis, trains, trucks, motorcycles for 25 hours in the entire country. Streets, squares and highways were completely empty.

Well, of motorized vehicles anyway :) Instead, the streets were flooded with people of all ages on bycicles, rollerblades, skateboards… There were also people on foot, just walking around and enjoying the peacefulness of the streets.

I loved it! And I loved the long walk on Yom Kippur afternoon, seeing the sun slowly go down and feeling the city wake up around me was really incredible!
